Natural Gas Industry

Natural gas is delivered to customers in North Carolina by four local distribution companies (LDCs) and eight municipal systems.  The LDCs are regulated by the Commission, which sets their rates and terms of service.  The municipalities are not subject to the jurisdiction of the Commission.  If you have a question about a municipal gas system’s rates and terms of service, you should contact it directly.

The map provided at the following link below shows the service territories of the four LDCs (Frontier Energy – purple, Piedmont Natural Gas – green, PSNC Energy – yellow, and Toccoa – orange):

Customers may find helpful information on three of the LDCs’ web sites as follows:

At this time, Frontier Energy does not have a web site.  During business hours, to report a gas leak to Frontier Energy call (336) 526‑2690, or call toll free at 1‑800‑537‑2545.  You may also call those same numbers, during business hours, to inquire about your bill, to request service connection or disconnection, or to make other routine inquiries.  After business hours, to report a gas leak to Frontier Energy call toll free at 1‑888‑337‑4774.

The Commission does not regulate propane or “LP gas”.  (LP gas is liquid or liquefied petroleum gas.)
