Expert Witness Hearing – March 7, 2023

On June 14, 2022, Bald Head Island Transportation, Inc. (BHIT), and Bald Head Island Ferry Transportation, LLC (BHIFT) filed an application for approval to transfer to BHIFT BHIT’s Common Carrier Certificate, in order to operate the passenger ferry transportation services to and from Bald Head Island and the tram services on the island. Approval was also requested for BHIFT or SharpVue (managing company) to pledge assets and borrow/issue debt.

The Commission held a public witness hearing on November 1, 2022, at the Brunswick County Courthouse in Bolivia, North Carolina. The purpose of the hearing was to take the testimony of public witnesses regarding the transfer and permission to pledge assets.

The Commission has also scheduled an expert witness hearing for March 7, 2023, beginning at 2:00 p.m. to be held in Commission Hearing Room 2115, Dobbs Building, 430 North Salisbury Street, Raleigh, North Carolina. This hearing is for the purpose of hearing testimony from expert witnesses, including BHIT, BHIFT, and the Public Staff. There will not be an opportunity for citizen testimony at this hearing, but members of the public may watch the hearing via YouTube from a link that will be available on this website the day of the hearing.

After two or three business days, written comments become part of the official record and can be viewed via this website under the docket number.

The Public Staff – North Carolina Utilities Commission is a separate agency that investigates utility matters and represents the using and consuming public in proceedings before the Commission including this one.
