On March 2, 2021, the Commission issued an order requiring Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC, and Duke Energy Progress, LLC (jointly, Duke), to make a presentation before the Commission that shall include:

  1. A brief overview of IEEE Standard 1547-2018.
  2. A discussion of the standard provisions that Duke has prioritized in order to increase the amount of distributed energy resources (DER) that can interconnect with minimal feeder upgrades, and the status of implementing those provisions.
  3. A discussion of the standard provisions that would help secure the bulk power system by addressing DER ride-through capability, and the status of implementing those provisions.
  4. An overview of those IEEE Standard 1547-2018 provisions that are anticipated to require Commission decision-making.
  5. Recommendations for future stakeholder engagement .

Representatives of the North Carolina Clean Energy Business Association, the Public Staff, the North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation, ElectriCities of North Carolina, Inc, and Dominion Energy North Carolina have been invited to make brief responsive comments.
