On October 5, 2018, Edgecombe Solar, LLC (Edgecombe Solar), filed a request to build a 75-megawatt solar photovoltaic electric generating station to be located on about 600 acres of land on the north side of US Highway 64 Alternate West, east of the intersection with April Lane, and west of the intersection with Alston Lane, near Kingsboro. Edgecombe Solar plans to interconnect its facility with the electric transmission system owned by Dominion North Carolina Power.
The Commission has scheduled two public hearings to consider this matter. The first hearing, scheduled for January 9, 2019, at 7:00 p.m., is for the purpose of receiving public witness testimony. This hearing will be held at the Edgecombe County Courthouse, 301 St. Andrews Street, Tarboro. The Commission may cancel this hearing if no substantial written complaints about the proposed facility are filed with the Commission on or before Monday, December 31, 2018.
The second hearing on this matter is for the purpose of receiving expert testimony from the Company and other parties. It is scheduled for Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., in Commission Hearing Room 2115, Dobbs Building, 430 North Salisbury Street, Raleigh.
