Docket No. EMP-108 Sub 0

On January 28, 2019, American Beech Solar LLC (American Beech) filed a request to build a 110-MW solar photovoltaic electric generating facility to be located in Halifax County and operated as a merchant generating facility. American Beech proposes to begin construction in the second quarter of 2021, with a commercial operation date of as early as the fourth quarter of 2022. The facility would be located on 23 parcels of land along portions of Thirteen Bridges Road, Sorietown Road, Old 125 Road, Bynum’s Bridge Road, and Sand Pit Road in Halifax County. The facility will interconnect with the electric transmission system owned by Dominion Energy North Carolina. The expected life of the facility is 20 or more years.

The Commission scheduled a hearing to receive public witness testimony on June 24, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room of the Halifax County Historical Courthouse, 10 North King Street, Halifax. However, this hearing was cancelled because no substantial written complaints regarding the proposed facility were filed with the Commission.
