Request to Raise Sewer Rates

On August 27, 2021, C&P Enterprises, Inc. (C&P Enterprises) filed a request to increase its rates for providing sewer service in Carteret County as follows:

The Commission has scheduled two hearings to address this matter. The first hearing will be held January 5, 2022, starting at 7:00 p.m., and is for the sole purpose of receiving testimony from customers. (This hearing may be cancelled if no significant protests are received on or before 5:00 p.m. on December 29, 2021.) This hearing will be held remotely via Webex, with customers giving testimony by telephone. Members of the public who would like to testify must register in advance no later than 5:00 p.m. on December 29, 2021. To register, send an email to ncucpublichearing@ncuc.net, or call 919-733-0837. To register you must provide your name, the docket number (W-1063 Sub 5), the topic of your testimony, and the exact telephone number you will use to participate in the hearing. Registered witnesses who call from a different phone number may be delayed or experience other difficulty in providing their testimony. People who simply want to observe the hearing may do so via a YouTube link that will be available on this website the day of the hearing.

Another alternative is that members of the public can provide the Commission with a consumer statement via email here. Or you can mail the Commission a statement at the address below. In either case, be sure to include the docket number in the subject line of your statement. Within several business days consumer statements are made part of the official record and can be viewed via this website.

The second hearing in this matter will be held February 8, 2022, starting at 10:00 a.m., and is for the sole purpose of taking expert witness testimony, including that of C&P Enterprises, the Public Staff of the North Carolina Utilities Commission, and other parties. This hearing will be held in Hearing Room 2115, Dobbs Building, 430 N Salisbury, Raleigh. There will not be an opportunity for public witness testimony at this hearing, but members of the public may observe via a YouTube link that will be available on this website the day of the hearing.
