Carolina Water Service Inc. of North Carolina (Carolina Water) seeks to purchase the franchise for providing water and sewer service in Silverton Subdivision in Cabarrus County from Pace Utilities Group, Inc. (Pace).

The water system consists of two wells, two hydropneumatic storage tanks, and a distribution system. Pace buys bulk sewer treatment from Carolina Water, the sewage is treated at Carolina Water’s Bradfield Farms’ wastewater treatment facility. Pace has 61 residential customers.

An average water customer using 5,262 gallons of water per month would experience a bill increase of $20.02, from $16.45 to $36.47, if the Commission approves Carolina Water’s proposal.

The Commission has scheduled this hearing to consider Carolina Water’s requests. A representative of the Company is required to appear in person to testify regarding the Company’s application. In addition, customers impacted by this proceeding or who wish to testify regarding any service problems they might be experiencing may also give testimony. Please note that this hearing might be canceled if no significant protests are received from customers by May 14, 2019.
