Natural gas is delivered to customers in North Carolina by five local distribution companies (LDCs) and eight municipal systems. The LDCs are regulated by the Commission, which sets their rates and terms of service. The municipalities are not subject to the jurisdiction of the Commission. The Commission does not regulate propane or “LP gas” (LP gas is liquid or liquefied petroleum gas).
