On June 21, 2021, Timbermill Wind, LLC (Timbermill) filed an application for authority to build six miles of 230-kV transmission line in Chowan County in order to interconnection a proposed 189 MW wind energy facility to the Dominion Energy North Carolina (Dominion) transmission grid. (Timbermill’s request to build that wind energy facility is pending in Commission Docket No. EMP-118 Sub 0. )

Timbermill states that the proposed transmission line will be sited on private land and that Timbermill has executed site control agreements with the landowners. The line would originate at the proposed wind energy facility collector substation south of West Bear Swamp Road and run about six miles south, crossing Paradise Road, to interconnection with Dominion’s 230-kV Winfall-Mackeys transmission line at a point north of the Norfolk and Southern Railroad and north of U.S. Highway 17 Bypass.

The Commission has scheduled a hearing on October 14, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at the Chowan County Courthouse in order to take the testimony of public witnesses. However, this hearing might be cancelled if no significant protests are received by the Commission.
